The Perfect House Plants

We all love plants. A touch of rich green leaves are the perfect accent in your home. It just makes you feel… fresh! BUT, in my experience, I gather some beautiful plants to spread around my home and then- in a matter of weeks- they are no longer green but rather a gloomy shade of tan and brown, crisping it’s dying leaves on the ground.

It’s sad.

So in my new year resolute to keep these beauties alive, I have compiled a list of house plants that not only clean the air but double as low maintenance and near impossible to kill!

(Only time will tell…)

English Ivy

“English Ivy, the evergreen climbing vine that is most commonly found outside, can substantially reduce the amount of mold in the air of your home, according to research presented to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology a few years ago.” -Allergy&Air

Bamboo Palm

“Ranked third all-around for keeping room air clean, including removing formaldehyde. (Keep in mind, it) needs a lot of room to grow.” -Mighty Nest

Chinese Evergreen

“The Chinese evergreen is a great choice if you have low light conditions; it tolerates lower light than most other houseplants and is easy to grow.” - SFGate

Dragon Tree

“The Dragon Tree is a popular indoor air purifier plant, sighted in many office lobbies, entrance-ways and atriums. The Dragon tree is among the best for removing xylene and trichloroethylene from indoor air. “ -IndoorAirQualityPlants

Peace Lily

“The Peace lily excels in the removal of alcohols, acetone, trichloroethylene, benzene and formaldehyde. Just don’t eat it. Nor touch its sap… this lily ]can be] poisonous to[if touched or eaten']” -IndoorQualityAirPlants

When most people cave on their New Year resolutions in the first month, I am determined to keep these babies green and happy all year long! Hopefully these plant ideas spark your own green inspiration and you’re successful in beautifying your home and cleaning the air at the same time! Good luck!
